Rail modifications from Springwood Station to Lithgow Station. This included modifications to Ten Tunnel Deviation between Newnes Junction and Zig Zag Station. This is to accommodate the new fleet and enable the trains to service customers all the way to Lithgow. The works extend the platform at Katoomba, Mount Victoria and Lithgow Stations. modifications to station platform edges (platform coping), and the existing platform canopy. Re-positioning of the rail tracks along some of the rail corridors predominantly the stations. Signalling work and adjustments to the overhead wiring system. Minor modifications to sections of the lining in eight of the tunnels, consisting of "notching" and "underpinning" works as well as the installation of rock bolts.
Workfast worked with the client Continuum Alliance who was awarded and successfully carried out the works. The Continuum Alliance was a consortium made up of CPB and Lendlease who designed and constructed the project.
Workfast provided Rail Safeworking solutions for the alliance and worked for the duration of the project for daily works and shutdowns.
